Friends of Scott Township Park
Friends of Scott Township Park is one of Four Rivers RC&D's newest project committees. "Friends" was formed to help develop the new township park, and has had tremendous success in involving the community in the park. Check their website for lots of information and pictures.

HAVEN stands for "horse advocates voicing equine needs". Established in 2004, HAVEN is dedicated to assisting abused and neglected horses.

Conservation Technology Information Center
The Conservation Technology Information Center is a clearinghouse for information about conservation on agricultural land. Innovation is the name of the game when it comes to conservation, and CTIC's CORE 4 program is the future of environmentally responsible, profitable farming for the future.

Natural Resources Educatiion Center
The Natural Resources Education Center provides programs- usually at little or no cost- to educate adults on a wide range of environmental topics. This website contains links to Hoosier Riverwatch, Project WET, Project WILD, and many other resources.

Hoosier Riverwatch
Hoosier Riverwatch is Indiana's volunteer stream water quality monitoring organization. Volunteers are trained by experts to examine and observe the habitat, stream structure, macroinvertebrates and physical/chemical properties of a stream. Training sessions are generally offered from spring through early fall, are a combination of classroom and "at the stream" sessions, and are free of charge! Hoosier Riverwatch maintains an on-line database of water quality data submitted by volunteer monitors. Hoosier Riverwatch also trains "Volunteer Instructors" to help train small numbers of volunteers, and to be a point of contact for those already trained. Funding for this program is provided by In. Dept. of Natural Resources and Purdue University.

Environmental Education Association of Indiana

The Environmental Education Association of Indiana's vision is to produce an environmentally literate citizenry of lifelong learners who are good stewards of our natural resources. EEAI promotes networking and communication between groups and individuals in an effort to provide its members the opportunities to share their knowledge, skills, and resources with others.

IDEM Office of Water
This link will take you to In. Dept. of Environmental Mgt. Office of Water. Drinking water, wastewater, watersheds, permits, grants, State Revolving Loan Funds, and many other related topics can be found here.

Indiana Geologic Survey
This is the motherlode of geologic and geographic information for Indiana. At this site, you can create interactive maps, using dozens of different data "layers". You may also download geographic information system (GIS) data to your computer (requires ArcView or similar software). Check it out!

IDNR- Division of Oil & Gas
Here is the homepage for the regional office of In. Dept. of Natural Resources-Div. of Oil & Gas. If you need information about oil and/or gas wells in your neighborhood, this is the place to go.

IDNR- Division of Reclamation
This link will take you to the website of In. Dept. of Natural Resources- Div. of Reclamation. This agency is responsible for insuring that land that has been mined is restored to the extent provided for in state and federal law. Div. of Reclamation also administers the Abandoned Mine Lands fund, which seeks to restore land left unreclaimed in years past.

Indiana Dept. of Commerce
Here you will find information on a variety of programs designed to help comunities help themselves. Information about the Community Development Block Grant, Neighborhood Assistance Program and other assistance is available here.

IDNR-Div. of Outdoor Recreation
Here is the website for In. Dept. of Natural Resources Divsion of Outdoor Recreation. There are many resources available for community development of parks and other outdoor recreation facilities. Need help with planning, or do you need funding for your park? You've made it to the right place.

IDNR-Div. of Soil Conservation
The In. Dept. of Natural Resources Division of Soil Conservation offers assistance in the areas of soil conservation on agricultural land, erosion on developing areas, and other related topics. The Division's Resource Specialists are responsible for insuring compliance with the Clean Water Act's Rule 5 and Rule 13 regarding urban erosion and stormwater control. The Resource Specialist can be contacted through your county Soil & Water Conservation District office.

USDI-Office of Surface Mining
This link takes you to the website of the US Dept. of Interior's Office of Surface Mining. This office is the funding agency for the Abandoned Mine Lands fund, which we have used extensively

US Army Corps of Engineers
The Army Corps of Engineers has authority over construction in many of Indiana's streams. A permit may have to be obtained from the Corps before construction begins. If you're not sure if you need a permit, contact their offices.

USDA- Natural Resources Conservation Service
NRCS is the arm of federal government charged with implementing the conservation programs of the 2002 Farm Bill. For more information, see the Indiana NRCS link below.

Welcome to the Indiana NRCS homepage. Here you will find a wealth of information regarding conservation, including such programs as the Conservation Reserve Program, Wetland Reserve Program, Farm and Ranch Land Preservation Program, Environmental Quality Incentives Program, and many others. US Environmental Protection Agency
USEPA is the federal funding source to IDEM for many of the watershed-based projects initiated by the citizens of the Four Rivers RC&D Area. Visit EPA's site for lots of information.

US Geologic Survey
USGS is responsible for many areas concerning our land and water resources. From maps and satelite photography, to stream guage readings, USGS offers a vast amount of information on the surface and subsurface of our country.

Patoka River Wildlife Refuge
One of the most beautiful natural areas in Indiana is within the Four Rivers RC&D Area. The Patoka River Refuge includes significant wetland areas- home to endangered species such as the Bald Eagle and Indiana Bat. Established in 1994, the Refuge continues to grow through land acquisition and donation. The Refuge also includes a portion of the old Wabash & Erie Canal.
